Constipation in kids...we need HELP!
-
Getting to the bottom of what is causing the constipation is key. Is the child withholding? Is there any anxiety around pooping that is playing a role? I often see food sensitivities as being an underlying cause and removing these foods can make a world of difference. Mag citrate and vitamin C are beneficial. "P" fruits can also help with occasional constipation - prunes, plums, pears.

Does magnesium work? The citrate version. Apple sauce works pretty well for us. Or prune juice in smoothies?
I also do not feel comfortable giving my kids miralax unless it's super bad about to go to the dr for pain, bad. -
@Purple-Animal we have tried magnesium and it's just so hard to stay consistent taking it daily - we need to figure it out. Miralax can change your child's behavior from what I am reading and it's ALWAYS recommended by doctors? I just do not understand.
MiraLax contains polyethylene glycol 3350 (“PEG 3350”), a compound of the highly toxic chemicals ethylene glycol (EG) and diethylene glycol (DEG), ingredients found in automotive antifreeze and brake fluid.

Agree with above. Need to get to the root cause of why they're getting constipated. I notice when my kids going to Grandma's and eat junk/pizza/more dairy than usual they all come back constipated. So we know to give them prunes around that time. Also make sure they're drinking enough water. I also try to mix in chia seeds with their food as they're full of fiber!

We went through this. Getting to the root cause is so important. When we still need help, I like HyFiber for Kids and Senna tea. Taylor Dukes Wellness also makes a Miralax alternative that is great.
