Father's Day Ideas
-
Any ideas for Father's Day? I'm struggling with the balance of summer schedules and managing all the things at our house...so to be quite honest, I'm not enthusiastic about planning an extravagant Father's Day. I haven't planned or bought anything yet. Ideas that could be ordered or handled this week? Maybe a gift card is in order this year...

DICKS has 20% off YETI for Father’s Day. I’m thinking of getting him a yeti coffee cup or new cooler.
He also wants a paddle board (Costco has some-he’s just paddling around not going to the Olympics so it should work).
Poncho shirt-boring but I know he’d like it -
All I have are Bombas socks and Tommy John underwear, although I know he would love these. Here for the ideas!

We are getting my husband a handheld leaf blower and new rainbows (flip flops).
We rented a boat to go on the lake. Something we all enjoy -
Blackstone accessories-smash burger smasher thing and a new cover. We also got Meat Church seasonings.
We’re allllll going to the driving range. It’s all I could manage. I too am feeling burnt out from all the coordinating of Summer -
When our kids were young, my husband’s favorite Father’s Day gift was a date night I planned! On the actual day we always did cards and a lot of years we went swimming at the Lake Pointe pool and would order pizza for dinner. I would take soap and the kids would shower there in their swim suits so they could go straight to bed when we got home. I think this year I’m going to get him a pizza oven so we can make pizzas at home - he likes cooking/grilling outside.
-
Lucky for him we are doing a street party with our neighbors and grilling hamburgers and hotdogs! If he’s extra lucky we’ll swim. He’s the luckiest because we’re making him a poster to hang in the kitchen that says “Happy Father’s Day!”

I am taking my husband on one of his dream trips where we will rent a boat on Lake Powell for the family to surf and wakeboard!
-
Nice dinner at carve and homemade cards from the kids! Super easy and chill! You can never go wrong with some homemade cards!
-
@GetInTheCar I’m getting my husband a custom grill set with his name engraved on the tools, plus a funny ‘Grill Master’ apron. I’m also putting together a little gift basket with his favorite snacks and a handmade card from the kids to make it extra special!

Zero plans. Actually keep forgetting that’s next weekend…
Hopefully he’ll want to smoke something or grill something and will likely get nicer cuts of meat we normally wouldn’t get. And make his favorite desserts. That’s about all I have in me… -
Growing up, we always went to see a movie for Father’s Day with my dad and now making that the tradition for our family! But my husband’s favorite thing we’ve ever gotten for him was a battery powered leaf blower. He uses it almost daily several years later.
I also have to remind myself that what he wants is time with the whole family, which is different than I (primary parent) feel about Mother’s Day. So we just lean in to doing things as a family with church, maybe lunch, and now a movie at Drafthouse so that we spend lots of time together!

You can really see the negative impact on and stress alcohol adds to your body and I guarantee he won't want to ever again. May not be good for everyone lol
Higher dose PEMF mat-This is expensive but is my husband's current favorite thing. He swears it relaxes him every night.

You can find all kinds of engraved things on Etsy. I had some pics my kids drew engraved on a keychain and money clip one year. I thought about having them write something for cufflinks.Bought a cheap wooden frame and had the kids decorate it for my dad. Put a pic of them with him in it called it a day. He teared up!
Misc
Subscription boxes- bacon of the month, Breo Box, GQ and Gentleman's Box are all good -
Local spot monogram lady has tons of stuff. Snagged a Jon hart shag bag there for storage of golf balls, but make it stylish ya know. Also then no balls rolling around the house… win win?

@GetInTheCar if my husband doesnt tell me what he wants to do or what he wants then we jut go out to lunch. This is fair because I tell him exactly what i want to do for mother's day so it eliminates the mental effort of thinking of an idea. Maybe in 10 years we'll actually be able to plan things as surprises. It's just too much right now and that's life!
