Hi! We make smoothies regularly and my kids love them, but I’m trying to find ways to add protein without ruining the flavor. Any no-taste protein powders you love? We’ve tried milk, milk alternatives, cottage cheese, yogurt, Fairlife protein shakes…but all give it too much of a milky flavor. Would love some ideas! 💡

@GetInTheCar I really like the Just Ingredients protein powder. It is clean and they have vanilla and chocolate!

Orgain makes an unflavored protein powder, as well as Vital Farms Protein powder! I would consider fairlife regular milk but add less (maybe 1/2c instead of 1C) and then a scoop of one of the powders above. Try flavored Greek yogurts, honey, peanut butter or cocoa powder to mask the milk taste.

Planta Protein, plant based, unbelievable flavor, simple ingredients. Our kids love the maple banana maple French toast flavor

Sun Warrior. More budget friendly than Planta. More of a bland flavor but super high quality ingredients. Make a thicker consistency

Also I’m sure you’re freezing your fruit, especially bananas to give it a good consistency.

ISO 100 by Dymatize. The fudge brownie flavor tastes like chocolate milk. Milk based but easily the most high end of the whey category of protein. We don’t have lactose issues and it’s been a good option for the fam bc it’s VERY easily absorbed by the body and high quality. Their fruity Pebbles flavor is my kids favorite but may (or may not?) be the best in smoothies. My husband played in the NFL and it was in his locker room which is how we know about it.

Orgain is great and can be found at Costco. Our other favorite brand is Just Ingredients. Very clean ingredients and made with whole foods. It's a small business and the owner has a great story of why she started the biz and we love supporting them. https://justingredients.us/collections/protein-powder

My favorite protein powder is the Vanilla Whey from Promix and my kids drink their smoothie every day. Their fav: Banana, 3 dates, ice, whole milk/milk alternative, large scoop of peanut butter, scoop of protein powder & ice. It's SO good!

Love the just ingredients chocolate! My kids also LOVE the ballerina farm maple syrup! Tastes like the leftover milk after eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch!

This isn't exactly what you asked, but just wanted to throw this out there, the ninja creami is a great way to get protein into kids in the form of 'ice cream'. Using the fairlife protein drinks, you end up with something that tastes very similar to the Wendy's frosty. I joke with my kids that they are allowed to have 'ice cream' for breakfast if it is one of these. Also a great way to use leftout/overripen fruit. If my watermelon has a funny texture or mango is starting to go bad, I just chop it up, blend, and freeze and it turns into a delicious fruit sorbet that my kids love - they ask for popsicles on hot days and this is a great alternative that's cheap.
