Oh, I love this question! Excited to see other’s responses!
Some 2024 favs are:
-The Women
-Fourth Wing- I was a little skeptical to read this one because I’m not typically into fantasy books and dragons.. but this was a good book!
-Iron Flame - The second book in the Fourth Wing series! It’s also great! (Both books are pretty spicy!)
-All the Colors of the Dark- Remarkably Bright Creatures
-
The Anxious Generation. O. M. G. - I think all parents of kids 5-15 would especially benefit from reading it!
-
I’m currently reading The Women and enjoying it. The entire Housemaid series was so good and led me to read several books by Frieda McFadden…The Teacher, Never Lie, One by One. All of these were great if you like suspense.
I also enjoyed The Swans of Fifth Avenue, The Maid, The Heiress, The Social Climber, and Tom Lake (I second the audiobook suggestion for this one read by Meryl Streep).
-
Habits of the Household (creating structure and rhythms in your house with kids) and Atomic Habits (creating self discipline).
I don’t read fiction but maybe I should start, looks like solid list above. -
The family firm
Dare to discipline (parenting)
She builds (excellent anti-hustle culture guide to writing a biz plan)
The obstacle is the way (change your perspective)
The freedom of self forgetfulness (religious - we don’t deserve paul)
The body keeps the score (health)
Brain maker (health/food)
Good energy (health)
The great blue hills of God (autobiography from founder of blackberry farms) -
@MomismynameO I absolutely loved habits of the household

I’ve really been into Romantasy recently. It’s been such a fun escape from everyday life! I like a lot of dark romance as well, so I’m enjoying booktok/bookstagram recs from accounts I follow. I’m also reading some personal development books as well. My favorites of the year:
- Fourth Wing/Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros (so stoked for the release of Onyx Storm in January!)
- High Performance Habits by Brendon Burchard
- Feelings Buried Alive Never Die by Karol K Truman
- Pen Pal by JT Geissinger
- Savage Little Games by Lane Hart
I’ve also started writing my own fantasy series and plan to publish my first book in May!
-
I loved all the colors of the dark. 1/3 of the way through I felt it dragging and thought maybe I wouldn’t finish but I’m glad I continued because it definitely was one of the best books for me this year.

After finishing Carrie Soto is Back, I’ve declared Taylor Jenkins Reid my favorite author. I just borrowed Malibu rising, forever interrupted, and another one on Libby and can’t wait to read through all of them. Is Malibu Rising your favorite?
-
So many good ones mentioned here but I’ll add my list (some are a few years old and a mix of fiction genres):
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine
The Measure
The Wedding People
The invisible life of Addie Larue
Carrie Soto is Back (have loved all Taylor Jenkins Reid books including Daisy Jones and the six and the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo)
All the colors of the dark
The frozen river
The book of lost names
Listen for the lie
Looking for Jane
