Do you provide dinner for your babysitters?

I've never really known what normal protocol looks like. Occasionally I have ordered a pizza or something, but does anyone have a standard practice on this?

If the kids are eating dinner and she's at our house from before dinner time to after dinner time then I'll include her in whatever the kids are eating, usually pizza. If she's coming over later then I assume she's already eaten. Or sometimes I ask beforehand. But I don't order her dinner separate from the kids.

I order pizza or Torchy’s to be delivered to the house if she’s going to be there during dinner and putting them to bed. If it’s later, then no! But I also find the eating can be a good distraction for me to scoot out of the house in front of my 2 year old without her really realizing 🤪

Following so I can see comments. I am deep in this trap. I provided a DoorDash giftcard once and now I feel hostage to doing it every time because we use the same woman. But that's on top of the fee we pay by the hour, plus tip sooo ... yeah. I feel stuck though because otherwise, if she comes around the kids' bed/dinner time, I feel like she has nothing to eat and I don't really know what the alternative is?

Agree with others- if they are coming over and feeding kids dinner I will order pizza and include them. If it’s later I don’t. I used to tell them they could order something on uber eats and we’d pick it up but between how much babysitters charge for hourly rates and how expensive uber eats has gotten we don’t really do that anymore.

I normally order pizza enough for the kids and sitter (and I always hope there is some leftover for me when I get home
). For some tea....one time I ordered sandwiches and a large dessert for the kids and sitter. The next day, my kids told me that the babysitter didn't share the dessert with them and ate it all once they went to bed.

Only if I happen to be ordering pizza for the kids for dinner that night. If not, I usually just say help yourself to anything in the fridge and pantry
.

@OrangeYouGlad So I try to reach out to the sitter ahead of time and let them know the dinner plans for the kids and I send them the menu asking what they would like. There have been plenty of times when they say they will be okay without anything. And there have been times when they send me their order and I have it there for them to eat either before we leave or to eat when they are ready. Sending the text ahead of time is key, though.
