I am a speech therapist who used to work in early intervention. Currently, I am just being a mom. However, it is always BEST to get in early and get checked!!!! Age 2 and only 2 words is considered delayed and worth getting a referral and get things moving! Sometimes just educating parents on increasing opportunities to talk makes a world of difference! For example, start putting something the child loves- like bubbles high on the counter and make the child try to imitate you saying, "bubbles". If the child makes any approximation like "buh" or "buh-buh" immediately praise and blow the bubbles for him/her and repeat. Hope that helps a little and hope your kiddo gets talking soon!
