Heading on Spring Break woohoooooo!!! Looking for family games to play on the beach and at the house. Elementary aged. I'm going to try really hard to be good with my phone and keep it away, so something I would enjoy as well. Does this even exist? Thanks!

Great question...If i play another round of uno i may die.

My kids enjoy lego sets and puzzles (i enjoy doing both with them). Chalk isn't too bad. Scooters. Dominoes. Mancala. Cats Cradle. We haven't been to the beach in awhile but i remember mainly playing in the water jumping waves and boogie boarding.

When we go to the beach, we don’t do a lot of structured play. We jump the waves on the shore, my bigs swim, we dig in the sand with basic sand toys. Each girl gets a seashell pouch (mesh so sand and water drain out) so they have fun collecting shells and treasures. And we often use the collections to make art in the sand, draw with sticks, etc. They love burying themselves, chasing the birds, and watching any ships or dolphins that pass! The only other things we might bring are snacks, speaker for music, and the beach game kuub (though that’s geared more for adults).

As far as activities at the house, our favs are puzzles, happy salmon, exploding kittens, and basic crafts. We’ll sometimes bring a single mic too for karaoke night!

We don’t bring much. The Velcro handheld ball game for catch. Sand toys & a football. We bring card games for the house, a few board games like guess who & memory. I find if you bring just a few things they play in the water more and mine will wave crash for hours.

Put sand and food coloring or acrylic paint in a jar or Ziploc bag and shaaaaaake. Boom, sand art.

So fun!! We like football, mahjong on the beach with a travel set, and sandcastles 🫶. Also long walks to find the coolest seashells!

Here are some our family loves:
Shell Toss – Draw circles in the sand (or dig shallow holes) and try to toss shells or small rocks into them.
Beach Ball Keep-Up – Work together to keep a beach ball in the air as long as possible using hands, heads, or feet.
Sand Drawing Contest – Use sticks or hands to draw big pictures in the sand, then vote on favorites.
Buried Treasure Hunt – Hide a shell or small object in the sand and have others dig to find it.
Bury a Friend – Safely bury someone up to their waist (or just their legs) and decorate them with sand designs.
Sand Sprint Races – Mark a start and finish line in the sand and race! Running on sand adds an extra challenge.
Sand Tic-Tac-Toe – Draw a big tic-tac-toe board in the sand and use shells or rocks as markers.
Beach Bowling – Use water bottles as pins and a beach ball to roll for a strike.

We just did this last week. On the beach the kids played with standard beach toys with an emphasis on shovels and buckets. Mesh net for catching things, and something to store their shells/treasures in. Volleyball and spike ball too. Little boy loved having his remote controlled truck.

At the house they did legos in the morning, paint by sticker books, read books/magazines and they did play a little bit of video games in the afternoon.
I kept a puzzle on the coffee table and they sorta did it but not really-I thought it was a genius idea but I guess not.

There is this really fun frisbee game that has a bottle on a pole. We got I off Amazon. It’s a fun game for the whole family!
