My sons birthday is August 31st and the cut off is September 1 for kindergarten. I’m struggling if I should put him in kinder and make him repeat or if I should put him in a private pre school, he is currently at the public pre school but can’t stay there since he is old enough for kindergarten.. what should I do?

This is tough. My son is young for his grade and super smart. When it came time for kinder I put him in because I thought another year of preK would just make him bored. However, now that he’s older I am regretting not holding him back. He’s small and very immature. He does great in school academically but socially he’s not at his grade level.
It’s a hard decision that I wish I wouldn’t have taken lightly. Good luck!

My son is also an August baby and this was such a tough decision for us! We ended up sending him to kinder with the idea that we would consider repeating kinder year if necessary. When the time came, we decided to repeat kinder & it was the best decision for our son!

I sent my kids on time but I wish we held. my kids are doing great but it puts them at a disadvantage for many things. Aug 31 is the cut off so there will be kids 18 months older.
