Ways to stay organized
-
Does anyone have any helpful tips for routines and things that help you keep your life together as the cruise ship director of the home? I feel like I’m organized but this may just not exist and all I can do is the best I can do
husband is great and I can give him direct instruction but any tips to help maintain some semblance of routine/organization with all facets of life?

@Salmon-Kangaroo it has really helped to keep my kids clothes purged when they grow out of their size. This was my biggest struggle for a long time. I didn’t have room for their clothes. Now I make sure by the change of each season I purge!

Make a schedule, stick to it.
Plan WAY ahead, like 9 days and then just roll with any changes
Grocery order Friday, have it delivered sat or sun morning. Then you’re set for meals for the week.
To do list on your phone. I do this by day and include on it what’s for dinner that night so you know if you need to prep.
Wake up before your kids. -
Number one thing I do to feel more organized is wake up before my kids! Give myself 20 mins (or more) to wake up, get ready, and take a look at my calendar. Also taking time Sunday night pick out clothes for the kids and put each in a tshirt organizer hanging thing in the closet so I can also see if there are gaps and I need to do extra laundry for a certain uniform/outfit. Also taking time over the weekend to plan out all dinners and lunches for so then I can do a grocery order and pick up Monday morning after drop off!
I use the Cozi app for calendar, grocery lists, and recipes and my husband is in charge of adding anything that he has that breaks from our normal routine (work travel, happy hours, etc). If it’s not on the calendar, it’s not happening!!
But honestly when with all that, so much is just rolling with the punches and knowing that something will come up or get canceled and not everything will go to plan!

I've never been able to do this. My oldest is going to be leaving for college in a couple of years (gasp!) and I've always felt like every time I get a routine going, that phase ends, life changes and I have to readjust.
But, I will say, I'm super organized and my house is clean and that helps a lot. Also, the calendar my husband and I share is everything. Everything goes in the calendar!

When I’m on my “A” game I use a hanging storage thing in my closet labeled by each day of the week. Each kid’s outfits go in, along with any jerseys for the week.
I make a bunch of snacks ahead of time (pretzels in baggies etc) for grab n go.
For laundry I separate all clean laundry into hampers by each family member-folding and putting away is my biggest hang up so this helps.I still struggle with meal planning so following along for that advice!

Schedules help!
•We use a 3 month LARGE calendar for everyone to see all the things.
•Also using EMeals app has been a HUGE life saver for me. It connects directly to your grocery store app to shop the list and then you just pickup.
•Laundry- my two (elementary)kids have their own hamper and have learned to do their laundry- SO HELPFUL. I still help start the washer and sort out clothes when they are dry, but they put them away. We also went to hanging up all shirts…it’s helped them!
•Checklist help for my house, I like to use the PPP version and then add whatever is needed.

•Declutter- still working on this, but I have noticed when I clear out my spaces it makes room in my brain too.
