Home + Work + Money
-
I've been a stay at home mom for the past 6+ years, married for 10 and always relied on my husbands job. I want to start making my own money, saving for trips, bathroom remodel, nice jewelry etc. Where can I find a job that allows me to juggle the house work (laundry, meals, cleaning, drop off, pick up, after school classes etc) and actually make some money? IS THIS A UNICORN I'M LOOKING FOR?

It truly depends on your professional skills. I work nearly full time from home and am able to do it because I’m a communications strategist and copywriter— jobs that allow me to do my work without a ton of meetings. I get assignments with due dates and am able to knock them out when I have time. My kids are in school full time, but even when they weren’t I simply took on fewer assignments. So, I recommend finding a virtual gig that aligns with your skill set.

I have a small business I started that keeps me busy and brings in some money. it wasn’t as hard as I thought to get started and I sell at holiday fairs

I think the lack of meetings is so crucial here. This is actually a light bulb moment for me. I work from home and I’m slammed all day long but I’m client facing. When I’m ready to look again it will be something with less meetings -
I agree that skill set is importantly to consider. I have seen several administrative/assistant roles available that are fully remote and part time hours or flexible hours. I’ve also seen marketing roles, graphic design, and accounting roles that are also work from home/flexible/part time. Check out The Mom Project

Hi @Colorful-three, I hope this isn't too promotional but I work for Faye (findfaye.com). We pair super organized people to a busy family that could use extra help on life admin tasks. Much of the work is virtual with occasional errands for higher-tier clients. More info on our site but our Advisors generally like the work and our families are so grateful for the help.
